The 4-1/2 An original Smith Creek design that combines the long neck, fingerboard extender, and graduations of an f-5, with the oval hole of an f-4 and an altogether new bracing pattern to produce a mandolin with a fat, round, oval hole sound on the low-end, and clean, popping f-hole sound on the high-end.  The blackface mandolin in most of these pictures has a number of extras including Vine Of Life Inlay in the fingerboard and Headstock, Natural Finish on the sides, neck and one-piece back, and herringbone purfluing around the sides.
