H-5
Mandola After several
years of threatening to add the H-5 Mandola to the list of Smith Creek
Instruments, it's finally on the way. One of the biggest stumbling blocks
to actually to making them has been locating an original H-5 Loar signed mandola
to make drawings of and take measurements from. This October I was finally
able to track an instrument down and the owner, a wonderful gentleman from North
Carolina, was gracious enough to invite me into his home for the better part of
a day to draw it.
She's Done:
This is the first Mandola. Hopefully I'll get some professional pics up some time
this year. It sounds nice, really fills a room with sound. This
mandola has a 17" scale (longer than the 14-3/4" Loar scale) and larger mandolin
size f-holes.
