Over twenty years
ago I built my first stringed instrument, a five string banjo. The
label I placed inside that instrument and every instrument since states
"Every Smith Creek Instrument Is Built To The Best Of My Ability Using
The Finest Materials Available." To ensure I had the best materials I
started cutting my own spruce in 1999. I learned about harvesting Red
Spruce from Ted Davis, the man responsible for bringing Red Spruce back
to prominence as the finest tonewood available.
My dedication to
quality extends to all the products and services I offer. Whether it's
spending 4 days in the woods of Maine to find the perfect tree or
countless revisions to a CAD drawing to carve the perfect archtop guitar
back plate, I'm not happy unless it's "right."
That's how I
build my own instruments and how I produce parts for yours. My goal is
